Village of 100 Diversity VideoA while back an email circulated that talked about what the world would look like if it was compressed into a Village of 100 with all the existing human ratios remaining the same.  The email went viral because the results of this compression were so compelling.  It made the need for tolerance and understanding even more apparent and spawned a diversity video called Village of 100.

The most recently calculated results of this compression are as follows.

There would be 60 Asians
12 Europeans
13 From the entire western hemosphere
14 Africans
1 from the Pacific

There would be 51 males and 49 females

There would be 67 non-Christians and 33 Christians

82 would be non-white and 18 white

89 would be hetrosexual and 11 homosexual

32% of the world's wealth would be in the hands of 5 people and all of those people would be citizens of the USA

80 would live in sub-standard housing

67 would be unable to read

33 would not have access to safe drinking water

50 would suffer from malnutrition

1 would have a college education

24 would have no electricity

7 would have access to the internet

33 would live on 3% of the world's income

These statistics are startling and really show just how important it is to have tolerance and understanding of the world's cultures and the serious issues that face the majority of the world's population.
