This program features profiles of three women who have staked out successful careers in the adventure tourism industry: Diny Harrison, a certified mountain guide with experience in Italy, Switzerland, and other countries; Mylene Pronovost, a dog sled musher and outdoor activities instructor; and Marie-Josee Blanchette, an ecotourism development agent who plans and guides wilderness tours. On any given day, at least 60,000 commercial flights crisscross the U.S. on the safest system of aerial highways in the world. In this program, the network of constant navigational communication that forms those highways is explored: air traffic control. The video goes inside airport flight towers and the country's busiest regional center, New York's TRACON, or terminal radar approach control. Air traffic controllers, pilots, FAA officials, the editors of Aviation Week, and the CEO of Continental Airlines are interviewed; all agree that despite its outstanding record, the system is stretched to its limits and is quickly approaching gridlock. When the Elm Street Detectives Club needed a new clubhouse, Anna, Michael, and Erin decided to do it right-right after their cardboard hideout fell apart in the rain. In this informative, hands-on video, three preteens meet with a general contractor to get a taste of the basics of home construction and then, with his help, build themselves a real clubhouse. When they're done, the detectives have a simple yet durable structure they can be proud of, while viewers benefit from a concise, easy-to-understand overview of the building process and a capsule history of home construction in the United States.
