The Brutal Effects of Bullying on Children
Monday, August 20 2012

Bullying Prevention VideoBullying is a horrible part of growing up. Nearly every child in America is bullied at some point and many face nearly constant bullying throughout their childhood.  Yet, some studies show that bullying is recognized and stopped by teachers, parents, administrators and other youth leaders only 4% of the time.  Many times adults see bullying as part of growing up and think that it's just "kids being kids", but there is nothing about bullying that should be seen as just part of the pitfalls of growing up.  Extensive studies have shown that bullied kids show the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder.  We need to educate our students and teachers on bullying - it is the first to step to bullying prevention. Here a few of the ways bullying manifests itself on school age children.

STD and Teenagers - Education is Crucial
Sunday, January 23 2011

STD Educational VideosSTDs are an unfortunate and common occurrence in teenagers today.  Teenagers are more sexually active than ever and this has caused the rampant acceleration of STDs in the age group.  Many young people don't completely understand the repercussions of their actions.  STD education in our schools and by parents needs to be a priority among teenagers.

There are three types of STDs - parasitic, bacterial and viral.  Bacterial and parasitic STDs can be cured with medicine, however some viral STDs never go away and leave their victims with a lifelong battle.  STDs need to be treated immediately for the treatment to be effective.  The longer the teen waits, the better the chance that the will develop serious health problems.    Cancer and liver damage can result from untreated infections.

Grade School Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention
Saturday, January 22 2011

Drug Prevention VideoDrug and alcohol abuse starts at an extremely young age these days.  It's vitally important to start education and prevention at a young age as well.  Students in the grades of 3-5 need to receive drug abuse prevention education.  They see older siblings, parents and even peers trying drugs such as tobacco and marijuana and if they are not educated they will follow the actions that they see around them.  This education needs to come at home, in student organizations and as part of every schools curriculum.
